Earthy and airy at the same time, with the unbridled joy of experiment, die.hammerling are spinning a unique sound woven with passion and dedication. Each piece a new emotional earthquake, each one resting in a sound-universe with corners and edges—black and colourful birds whistling from the home country on the telegraph wires stretched to Suriname.
die.hammerling flow out of various musical sources.
Together they sound magical, mysterious, direct and playful. An intelligent music full of emotion, always open to the creativity at the moment—performed successfully in many international music festivals from Tunis to Vienna, Salzburg, Munich to Hamburg.
This wide spectrum of sounds is also very much appreciated as theater- and film music, most recently 2010 in a project "Over the Mountain", a guided therapeutic alpine crossing for drug addicted young people. die.hammerling empathize with the inimitable way of the inner world of these people.

die.hammerling — Press Commentaries

The third and last one of the jawo label is by die.hammerling and is called "Hommage an die verlorenen Sprachen". Only a few years ago I reviewed The album ZUG by a duo called Hammerling and accordionist Michaela Dietl. A strong album with a wide variety of styles. The cooperation continues and the band is now called die.hammerling. I think the Jawo label has a great ear for quality, again this is a great album. In many ways different than the pevious two. I find this one the most adventurous one with creative original compositions and again a wide variety of sounds. From The Alps to African, Latin, to west, south, north and east and back. Jazz, improvisation folk, funky and sometimes almost rocking, but all acoustic. This album is a tribute to the disappearing languages, which of course is a theme that gives a lot of inspiration for beautiful music. Listen to Surinam one of the highlights on this album and you know what I mean. What a power, passion and pureness. Dietl with her raw accordion and strong voice, Moßhammer with his melodic trumpet and the fine percussion of Rehling who is like the cherry on the pie.
I do hope die.hammerling keeps playing together for many moons and above all, I hope Jawo records keeps releasing such well produced, good sounding, high quality albums.

„Oh what sounds! And even the instruments – accordion, melodica, phantastic voice, mussel, fujara – a slovakian flute from the shepherds – alpine horn, pockettrumpet, mouthorgan, lithophon, drums, bells… What they do with it, gambols and murmurs, flowing from joy into lament. It has the tango and sometimes a very special colour in moll, making the sounds full of atmosphere and somehow quiet, inspite of the shouts for joy…”

Hammerling trifft Michaela Dietl "ZUG"

FolkWorld CD Reviews, FolkWorld Issue 38 03/2009

The duo Hammerling exists of Austrian multi instrumentalist (alphorn) Fritz Moßhammer and percussionist German Erwin Rehling. On this ZUG album they cooperate with accordionist Michaela Dietl.

The CD contains both a collection of studio and live recordings of the trio. They play their original compositions with passion. They easily blend jazz with sounds from the Alps. They improvise and experiment with rhythms and sounds, trying to cross the limitations of their instruments. The interaction between alphorn and accordion is very nice, somehow the instruments match but also these two musicians know how to challenge each other to give everything they have, both backed by excellent percussion work.

The album is full of variation, from happy sounding gnome dances to dark and sweaty nightclub sounds. Intriguing project with great musicians who managed to create a unique and own sound.
